  4. Fill Application Form: Provide necessary details, including the Ministry/Department, applicant's information, and the text of the RTI request (up to 3000 characters). For longer requests, attach a supporting document in PDF format.
  5. Make Payment: Pay the prescribed fee (₹10 for general applicants; no fee for BPL applicants with valid proof) using the available payment options.
  6. Submit Application: After payment, submit the application. A unique registration number will be generated for future reference.

How to File a First Appeal Online

  1. Visit the Portal: Access the portal at https://rtionline.gov.in.
  2. Submit First Appeal: Click on the "Submit First Appeal" option.
  3. Enter Details: Provide the RTI request registration number, email ID, and security code.
  4. Fill Appeal Form: Complete the appeal form, specifying the grounds for appeal and attaching any supporting documents if necessary.
  5. Submit Appeal: Submit the appeal. A unique registration number will be generated for tracking purposes.

Payment Methods

  • Internet Banking: Through the State Bank of India (SBI) payment gateway and its associated banks.
  • Debit/Credit Cards: Master/Visa and RuPay cards.
  • UPI: Unified Payments Interface for seamless transactions.

Important Guidelines

  • Character Limit: The RTI request text is limited to 3000 characters. For longer requests, attach a PDF document.
  • Supporting Documents: Only alphabets (A-Z, a-z), numbers (0-9), and specific special characters are allowed in the text. Supporting documents should be in PDF format and not exceed 1MB in size.
  • BPL Applicants: Citizens below the poverty line are exempt from the RTI application fee but must provide a valid BPL certificate.
